Contemporary rugs are steady against a scuffing, are easily cleaned of pollution and save original brightness of colors during all exploitation term. The main problem facing by the producers of contemporary rugs is creation of the cover, which combines optimally design, functional and service properties indispensable for creation of a coziness, heat and beauty; harmony with furniture and internal atmosphere of a house or office.
The craft of fur rugs is widely spread across northern and Far East regions of Russia. Fur rugs authors are representatives of native citizens of this vast region. Widely spread basic materials, which are used as a raw material for fur rugs are fur, camuses (skin from reindeer legs), as well as skin of marine animals – seal, its close species and the fur of fur-bearing animals.
The artistic decoration of fur rugs from these stuffs during centuries has reached the highest level. In spite of the widely known method, masters of each separate nationality in own way sewed and decorated fur rugs, subjects of clothes, footwear and domestic custom made from these stuffs.
Fur rugs have been embroidered with glass beads, reindeer under-neck hair, fur mosaic. The round fur rug of reindeer fur and bird's pens, made by northern forewomen is characteristic for this region activities. Fur rugs usually have got their own color but can be painted.
They can be made of one or several fur kinds.
